Welcome to the Autumn Term in Year 2
Welcome back to the new school year! We have lots of exciting learning planned for this term and I am very much looking forward to working with the new Year 2 class.
Our main text in English, as a focus for our writing will be the Owl who was Afriad of the Dark by Jill Tomlinson. Our final piece of writing in our unit will be to write a fact sheet about owls using adverbs, co-ordination (but, or) and commas to separate items in a list.
In history, we will be finding out all about The Great Fire of London. We will discover how it started, why it spread so easily and what changed as a result.
In science, we begin with how humans stay healthy and move onto investigating materials.

- Our PE lessons are on Monday and Wednesday. Please make sure children come into school dressed in PE kit on those days.
- Please also make sure that children have a named waterproof coat in school each day even if the weather looks fine in the morning.
- Homework will be set on a Friday and will be due for completion the following Thursday.
- Spellings will be checked on a Friday morning.
- Reading books will be changed on a Tuesday and Friday.
