Mrs Mowforth
Welcome to Year 4.
Summer Term 2026

Welcome to the Summer Term in Year 4. We have another busy term ahead of us with lots of exciting learning planned.
Our main English text for the first part of the term will be "Alba. the Hundred Year Old Fish" by Lara Hawthorne. At the end of the unit of work, we will be producing our own informative text focusing on the theme of pollution.
In History, we will be looking at Anglo-Saxons, Scots and Vikings: Britain's settlement by Anglo-Saxons and Scots; the Viking and Anglo-Saxon struggle for the Kingdom of England to the time of Edward the Confessor.
In Science, we will be looking at the digestive system before moving on to habitats.
For more details on the rest of our planned learning for this term, have a look at the Summer Topic Web in the file section.
Our PE sessions this term will continue to be on a Monday and a Wednesday. Please ensure that children come into school in their PE kits on these days and have a warm outer layer for outside work.
Brass lessons will still be on a Friday afternoon. Please make sure trumpets and trombones are in school on Friday every week.
Homework will be set and emailed on a Friday and will be due for completion by the following Thursday. Spellings will be checked on Friday mornings. For more details, click the homework tab above.
Please make sure your child has their reading book in school each day as well as a named waterproof coat.
If you have any questions or concerns, however small, please get in touch via email: nmowforth@mottramacademy.org.uk
