Welcome to Year 4.

Spring Term 2026

Happy New Year and welcome back to the Spring Term in Year 4.  We have another busy term ahead of us with lots of exciting learning planned.

Our main English text for the first part of the term will be "Escape from Pompeii" by Christina Balit. At the end of the unit of work, we will be producing our own historical narrative told from the point of view of one of the characters.

In Geography, we will be looking at maps, both paper and digital, to work with compass points, keys and route mapping.  In Science, we will be begin by exploring Sound.

Our PE sessions this term will continue to be on a Monday and a Wednesday. Please ensure that children come into school in their PE kits on these days and have a warm outer layer for outside work.

Brass lessons will still be on a Friday afternoon. Please make sure trumpets and trombones are in school on Friday every week.

Homework will be set and emailed on a Friday and will be due for completion by the following Thursday. Spellings will be checked on Friday mornings. For more details, click the homework tab above.

Please make sure your child has their reading book in school each day as well as a named waterproof coat.
