Special Educational Needs and Disability

Mottram St. Andrew Primary Academy is an inclusive school. We strive to deliver a curriculum that meets the diverse learning needs of all our pupils and we do everything we can to remove any barriers to progress.

The SEND Code of Practice (2014) states that all children and young people are entitled to an education that enables them to make progress so that they:

  • achieve their best
  • become confident individuals living fulfilling lives
  • make a successful transition into adulthood, whether into employment, further or higher education or training

Our SEN Information Report (see below) provides information about the provision for Special Educational Needs in our school. This forms part of Cheshire East's Local Offer, which includes information about the support and provision that families can expect from a wide range of agencies for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and/or disabilities (SEND). More information can be found here on the Cheshire East Local Offer site.

In Cheshire East, there is a team which gives information advice and support to parents/carers of children with SEND and to young people over the age of 16 in their own right regarding all things SEND related. This team is the Cheshire East Information Advice and Support (CEIAS) team.

The headteacher, Miss Jean Willerton, or the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo), Mrs Lucy Lomas, are happy to discuss any concerns with parents at any time. For an appointment, please email: office@mottramacademy.org.uk
