Homework
Homework will be emailed once a week every Friday and need to be completed by the following Thursday. Little and often is key and it will follow the structure below. If you have any questions or concerns regarding homework, please do get in touch or ask your child to speak to me in school to sort. The class have all their logins in their reading journals.
Reading - Being a confident reader is essential for school. All children should be reading daily - either independently or shared. Reading journals need to be kept updated at home and brought into school each day. Reading comprehension workbooks will be introduced later in the term.
Spelling - Weekly lists will be set for homework. It would be useful to keep referring back to the list attached below which are statutory for Years 5 and 6. There are also the various spelling patterns I will be setting weekly. Children are also assessed on their spelling ability and proof-reading skills within their writing.
Maths - Mathletics task, mental maths practice (could be using Times Table Rockstars or Hit The Button), maths calculations (arithmetic questions).
Topic - A termly extended task which will relate to Year 6's current or upcoming theme. This will give the class time to research and explore their new topic before we begin in school and share their discoveries in lesson.
SATS - Specific activities and revision topics will be shared during Spring Term in preparation for Year 6's assessments. This will include a reading comprehension, additional maths tasks and SPaG activities.
